American Fabricators, Inc. (AFI) was founded in 1984.
From modest beginnings in a rented warehouse, AFI has grown into one of the premier sheet metal fabrication job shops in the United States serving a diversified customer base spanning several different industries. We currently employ approximately 150 associates and have over 100,000 square feet of total manufacturing space.
A big contributor to AFI’s success and constant growth over the last 30 years is based on fostering a culture of customer focus and constantly improving the quality of our products and processes. AFI’s efforts towards continuous improvement and operational excellence have resulted in numerous “Preferred Supplier” ratings from our customers, as well as being selected as Nashville’s Small Business of the Year.
American Fabricators is located in Nashville, Tennessee just off the I-24 interstate. AFI occupies two buildings at the end of Metroplex Drive totaling over 100,000 square feet of manufacturing space. Nashville is located at the intersection of three major interstates, making it a convenient shipping point to customers throughout the Southeastern United States.

FabriVision Inspection Scanner
The FabriVision inspection scanner is used to verify punched and laser-cut parts during the first article process. This technology uses a laser beam to scan the flat parts coming off the punches or lasers and compares the scanned image of the part to the CAD file. A color-coded map is generated showing the variations between the CAD file and the part in increments of .002″. The machine software will also alert the inspector if any part features have been omitted.
All gages, whether company or employee-owned, are traceable through our in-house calibration program. We use a GagePack database to manage the system and all standards used to verify gages are traceable to N.I.S.T.
In-House Welder Certification
Welders at American Fabricators undergo an in-house welder certification program that is based on the requirements of the American Welding Standard D1.1. Some of our more advanced welders have been 3rd party certified by an independent laboratory.
We work with over 300 companies in many different industries, and we're always ready to take on new projects. Contact us today.
